Posters, posters, and ...expresso cups?

Having a blast here at Rare Posters, Inc. They certainly have an eye catching collection! Are you a collector yourself? Check them out! www.rareposters.com

For the record, yes I am an event and portait photographer. However, broadening my photography is definitely helpful for the portfolio and if anyone is interested in getting into such work, I'd be happy to share tips I picked up from this gig.

Getting a lot experience here. Teaching myself new tricks, techniques and solutions. (which I will share in the near future) And as for Rare posters everything is done by the book and goes accordingly.
Well... for the most part. Sometimes you just wanna take that extra step.
So, as I was saying in the blog title, POSTERS, POSTERS and... we'll get to that.
As the company constantly updates their poster inventory and catalog everything I shoot for their online store, I spent a lot of time editing these two-dimensional products. Not too bad. Large quantity but for the most part it all needs the same amount of time to edit. It got routine and almost automatic, but then one day... I get handed this little guy:
Cute right?

Yes this project involved a lot more variety in product photography. Bring it on!! Needed to be extremely careful with these very delicate and priceless items. (Is priceless the right word?) The owner did casually hand me a $3000 bowl and said "Here I need you to shoot this." Hmm... a story for another time...

Along with good care; strong lighting and compositional skills were needed.

Much more work to be done. I'll sprinkle in some of those tips as I continue to share my event and portrait sessions. Thanks for reading!

Tony
